The Center for Applied Studies in Health Economics (CASHE) was established in 2011 to promote and conduct high-quality health economic and health services research. Our mission is to enhance the research conducted at the Penn State College of Medicine and elsewhere with expertise in health economics and related research methods. CASHE includes health economists and researchers from other public health disciplines from the Department of Public Health Sciences, as well as investigators from other clinical and basic sciences departments, such as Pharmacology, Psychiatry, Health Administration and other departments, who are interested in health economics and health services research.
CASHE faculty offer collaboration and consultation in health economics, study design, personalized medicine and econometrics. Examples include:

- Health care claims analysis, including Medicare and Medicaid
- Econometric modeling
- Personalized medicine
- Cohort studies
